Product Application:

ORG Clean MC 103 (Membrane Cleaner) is a low pH, liquid formulation designed specifically to remove metal hydroxides, calcium carbonate, and other similiar scales from Reverse osmosis (RO), nanofiltration (NF), microfiltration (MF) and ultrafiltration (UF) membranes. This highly effective product provides superior cleaning resulting in longer system running time.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
During the operation of a membrane separation system, dissolved solids in the incoming water can concentrate up to a level where they begin to precipitate on the membrane surface. Scaling from hardness and metal salts found in most unsoftened water supplies impedes the flow of water through the membrane. This can result in unacceptably low production, high operating pressure, or an excessive pressure drop in the system, which may lead to irreversible membrane damage. Additionally, the accumulation of scale next to the membrane surface can increase the amount of dissolved material passing through the membrane, resulting in product water of unacceptable quality. Before the scale accumulates to a level where product water declines, or membrane damage can occur, it should be removed through clean-in-place (CIP), off-line cleaning. Indications of the need for cleaning include a significant decrease in normalized permeate flow, a significant increase in pressure drop across the system (or individual stage), or an increase in the normalized salt passage, so that product quality is unacceptable.
ORG Clean MC 103 (Membrane Cleaner) contains a blend of solubilizing and complexing agents designed to specifically remove calcium carbonate and metal hydroxide-based scales from the surfaces of a membrane. Used in tandem with an alkaline cleaner for organics and particulate removal, regular cleanings with ORG Clean MC 103 (Membrane Cleaner) helps to preserve the life of your membranes. Depending on the nature of the fouling, a soak period may be necessary for optimum results.
GENERAL CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
The following general cleaning procedure can be followed.
Inspect cleaning tank, hoses, and cartridge filters.Clean tank and flush hoses if necessary. Install new cartridge filters.
Fill cleaning tank with RO permeate or DI water. Turn on agitator or tank recirculation pump.
Slowly add ORG Clean MC 103 (Membrane Cleaner) to cleaning tank (1 gal [3.8 L] of product for every 50 gal [189 L] of water) and allow to mix thoroughly.
Check solution temperature. If solution temperature is lower than recommended level, adjust heating control to provide optimum temperature. If manufacturer%u2019s recommendation is not available, contact your RX MARINE representative.
Check solution pH. The solution pH should be 2.5-3.5 or as recommended by the membrane manufacturer. If pH is too low, adjust pH upwards with NaOH, or other chemical as recommended by the membrane manufacturer. If pH is too high, adjust with hydrochloric acid.
Circulate solution through one stage at a time in the direction of feed flow for 30 minutes. Circulate at the flow rate recommended by the
membrane or system manufacturer. If manufacturer%u2019s recommendation is not available, contact your BetzDearborn representative. Pressure
should be low enough so that no permeate is produced during cleaning, but always less than 60 psig (4.2 kg/cm2). In cases of heavy fouling, the first return flow (up to 15% of the cleaning tank volume) should be diverted to drain to prevent redeposition of removed solids. For optimum results, each stage must be cleaned separately in a multistage system.
If the first stage cleaning solution becomes turbid or discolored, dump the tank and prepare a fresh cleaning solution before proceeding. If solution pH or temperature moves out of the recommended range, a new solution should be prepared. In any event, a new cleaning solution should be prepared for each stage.
Rinse with RO permeate at 20°C (68°F) minimum before returning system to service.
When returning unit to service, divert product water to drain until any residual cleaning solution has been rinsed from system.

Concentrated cleaner effective on a wide range of organic foulants, inorganic scale, metals, colloids, biological growth, and organic foulants from RO membranes. ORG MC 882 maintain optimum cleaning performance throughout cleaning cycle Liquid cleaner easily diluted to application strength Optimal results when used in a program that includes an acid-based ORG MC 882 product.

General Mixing & Application Instructions:
Inspect all cleaning system components to include CIP tank, hoses, and cartridge filters. Flush or replace if necessary. Fill cleaning tank with RO permeate or DI water. Turn on agitator or tank recirculation pump.
Slowly add ORG MC 882 to cleaning tank (1 gal [3.8 L] of ORG MC 882 for every 50 gal [189 L] of water). Mix thoroughly. The solution pH should match product specification. If necessary, adjust pH with a membrane%u2013approved chemical such as caustic, citric, sulfuric or hydrochloric acid. The solution should be heated up to 45%u02DAC to improve cleaning efficacy.
Circulate solution in the same direction as the feed flow. Typical circulation times are 30%u201390 minutes.* PWT recommends cleaning each stage of the system separately. Maximum flow rate per pressure vessel is 40 gpm (152 Lpm) for 8-inch elements and 10 gpm (38 Lpm) for 4-inch elements. Maximum pressure for cleaning is 60 psig (4.2 kg/cm2).
In cases of heavy fouling, divert the first 10-20% of cleaning solution to drain to prevent re%u2013deposition of removed solids.Rinse with RO permeate before returning system to service. When returning unit to service, divert product water to drain until any residual cleaning solution has been rinsed from system. LIQUID MEMBRANE CLEANER
Using Procedure:
Application ORG MC 882 is effective when used as a 1-2% solution and alternately soaked and recycled through the membrane system for 1-2 hours. Cleaning solution pH should be the minimum recommended by the membrane manufacturer. If the pH starts to rise during the cleaning process additional ORG MC 882 should be added or the cleaning solution replaced. After cleaning, ORG MC 882 cleaning solutions should be slowly neutralised to pH 6-7 using an alkaline solution before discharge, as the presence of acid solutions can be damaging to concrete and cement lined discharge pipes. Before returning the plant to service, the membrane system should be thoroughly flushed, until the pH of the feed and the concentrate are similar. The product water conductivity may initially be high but will return to normal after a few hours of operation. ORG MC 882 is fully miscible with water in all proportions.

Activated alumina is an excellent desiccant for drying a wide variety of liquids and gases. Our activated alumina has been developed with high attrition resistance and crush strength, It has larger water adsorption capacity comparing to molecular sieve at high relative humidity and providing long service life with performance at or below dew point specifications.
Activated alumina is highly porous material; this material can have a surface area significantly over 200 square metres/g. Very suitable for use as a filter of fluoride, arsenic and selenium in drinking water.
Activated Alumina is an aluminium oxide that is highly porous and exhibits tremendous surface area. Activated Alumina is resistant to thermal stock and abrasion and will not shrink, swell, soften nor disintegrate when immersed in water.
Surface area is in the range 345-415. Because it has a higher capacity for water than Silica Gel at elevated temperatures it is mainly used as a desiccant for warm gases including air. In many commercial applications zeolitic materials have now replaced it.

ORG – 191 t (Membrane Antiscalant) combines the product reliability of ORG – 191 t (Membrane Antiscalant) for advanced monitoring and control. ORG – 191 t (Membrane Antiscalant) is a highly effective scale inhibitor whose active components were developed to treat reverse osmosis (RO) systems. ORG – 191 t (Membrane Antiscalant) has shown for over 20 years excellent performance against the following scalants: calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, barium sulfate, strontium sulfate, calcium fluoride, silica and iron.
Product Application:
ORG – 191 t (Membrane Antiscalant) is used when the silica level in the brine is less than 185 mg/l at a brine pH of 7.5 and temperature 25oC (77oF). For higher silica levels, the recommended product is ORG – 191 t (Membrane Antiscalant).

Investigations have shown sodium hypochlorite to be an effective disinfectant having broad applications. Although a number of other disinfectants (calcium hypochlorite, ozone, UV, solar disinfection) and treatment processes (filters, slow sand filtration) have been investigated, sodium hypochlorite appears to offer the best mix of low cost, ease of use, safety, and effectiveness in areas where there is enough water to drink and water is not excessively turbid. These characteristics are the reasons why most water treatment systems in the US and Europe have been using chlorine for disinfecting drinking water for nearly 100 years. The other disinfection methods noted above also effectively disinfect water and are useful in a number of settings.

Using Procedure:
The hypochlorite dose will depend on the characteristics of the local water. Usually an amount in the range of 5 to 10 milliliters added to 20 liters of water is sufficient to inactivate the disease-causing organisms, but not leave an unpleasant taste. Once the size of the cap for your project has been determined, some simple experiments can be used to determine the appropriate dose. To conduct the experiments, you will need Sodium Hypochlorite , source water in your area, and a kit that measures the amount of free and combined chlorine.
First, it is important that the concentration of the SH solution produced is correct (usually 0.5 to 1.0%). A concentration that is too low requires too high a volume to adequately treat enough water to be practical. A concentration that is too high is difficult to accurately dose, raising the risk of too high a dose (which is unpalatable), or too low a dose (which might not effectively disinfect the water). Second, it is important that the pH level of the solution be at least 11. This increases the shelf life of the solution.
Product Note:
Chlorine is an extremely reactive chemical. Right after the sodium hypochlorite is added to the water, chlorine levels decline because the chlorine is reacting with inorganic and organic matter and microbes. After those reactions are complete, chlorine in water will slowly escape into the air as a gas. This is the reason that free and total chlorine levels slowly degrade over time in a covered (but not sealed) container, and also why it is recommended that the pH level of the hypochlorite solution be raised to over 11 to extend the shelf life of the solution before it is used.

Antiscalant RXSOL ORG EV is a high performance liquid product for the control of alkaline scaling (calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide) in all types of seawater distillation plants. Antiscalant ORG EV is an aqueous solution of a synthetic polymer based on hydrolysed maleic anhydride.Used alone or in conjunction with a sponge ball cleaning system its effectiveness has been demonstrated in distillation plants operating with top brine temperatures up to 120 ºC.
Product Application:
Antiscalant RXSOL ORG EV can be used in all types of distillation plant but is particularly suitable for use in multi-stage flash plants.
RO antiscant: Scaling is caused in membranes because the level of hardness salts in the water becomes highly concentrated as it passes through the RO unit. In smaller units scale formation can be prevented by base exchange softening the make-up water but for larger systems that is very expensive. We have developed a range of easy to handle, cost effective RO Antiscalant which increase the solubility of the hardness salts so they remain in solution rather than forming scale on the membrane. Our cost effective RO antiscalants will inhibit a wide range of foulants including: calcium carbonate, calcium sulphate, barium sulphate, strontium sulphate, calcium fluoride, silica and iron.
RO Antiscalants are dosed directly to the RO feed water tank or feed water line (after pretreatment) at the recommended dosage of 1-3 mg/L and maximum dosage at 8mg/L, subject to inlet water quality and parameters is respect of Calcium Hardness, Iron, TDS, Alkalinity, pH and silica content. Maximum dilution should be 10% with RO or DI water for temperature less than 30 deg C. For higher temperature the dilution ratio can increase.

Using Procedure:
Antiscalant RXSOL ORG EV is an aqueous solution of an organic acid and as such is corrosive in its concentrated form. Corrosion resistant dosing equipment must be used. Examples of suitable materials are 316L stainless steel and PVC or other plastic materials. Recommended injection points are either into the seawater make-up line after any external de-aeration and decarbonation equipment or into the recycle brine stream at a suitable point after the blowdown and typically into the discharge of the recycle brine pump
Antiscalant RXSOL ORG EV is miscible with water in all proportions. It may be applied as the neat product, or as a solution in distillate and should be dosed continuously, and proportionately to the seawater make-up flow, to maintain the recommended dose level.
The dose level required will depend on a number of factors, including the quality of the seawater feed, TBT, recycle brine concentration factor, the type of distillation plant and frequency of application of the sponge ball cleaning system. Typical dose levels, when used in conjunction with a sponge ball cleaning system, are 0.8 to 1.2 mg/l at TBT 90 ºC and 2.0 to 3.0 mg/l at TBT 110 ºC. Thermal Stability: Thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry have shown that Antiscalant RXSOL ORG EV is stable up to a temperature of 300 oC.
Chemical Reactivity: Antiscalant RXSOL ORG EV is not affected by chlorine or other oxidising biocides under normal conditions of use. It is readily broken down by strong oxidising
